Orcas Island
Ahh Orcas Island...The San Juans...mysterious and wonderful how these islands still remain a safe haven from the bustling city life. Pristine islands of forests, floating on the glassy Sound.
Oh how I'm loving happy accidents. This roll of cross process film had a huge light leak. I was sure the whole roll had been exposed as I was trying to ravel it back on the spool. but instead I ended up with these rad shots that look like they are are fire!
A day trip to Lopez Island on our bikes proved for a well deserved picnic on the beach. Vita's Cafe on Lopez serves up some super delicious treats, while I was tempted to eat at there quaint restaurant and sip on one of their delicious glasses of wine, we decided to packed our treats into our panniers and head for the beach...
We were invited to a private farm, where hot pizzas were flying out of this marvelous wood fired oven, made of marble. All the ingredients came from the farm or local merchants. It was one of those moments that Sunset Magazine tried to recreate in their photo shoots, but we were actually there! Hands down the best pizza I have ever tasted. And out of all the lovely flavor combinations, the best was goat cheese and "green life force" - a mysterious pesto like topping made from braising greens and green garlic, along with some other secret ingredients. If you are ever on the island be sure to check out the farmers market and buy some goodies form MapleRock farms, best greens ever!
Our buddy Owen, full of great recommendations for adventures on the island!
